Common Sense, Step 1: ABC Fires AMC Head Writer McTavish for Third Time
ABC has taken decisive action to allay critic and fan concern that the long-running ALL MY CHILDREN was becoming damaged beyond repair: Brian Frons, President, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group announced the immediate firing of longtime AMC Head Writer Megan McTavish. McTavish had held the position since 2003 (after being previously fired from the same job in 1995 and 1999).
Interestingly, Soap Opera Digest/Weekly on-line quotes an unnamed "veteran cast member" as follows: "We know the show is bad. Morale is low. We [didn't] know why they were keeping her if she couldn't turn it around."

There is not sufficient hyperbole that can overstate how overdue this was. Though anyone who's now looking at Frons as a hero for firing her needs to remember he was the reason she was there for as long as she was, and that the decision to kill of Dixie Martin was a joint one between Frons and McTavish...Common Sense, part 2: Fire Frons?
